Scandinavian furniture, done properly

Scandinavian design is about what has been left out. Straight legs, flat fronts, recessed or minimal handles, and timber that is allowed to be the decoration. It is not the same as plain: the proportions are carefully worked, which is why a simple oak-topped chest still reads as designed rather than basic.

What defines the look

A light oak or natural timber surface as the visual anchor. Legs that are slim and often tapered, so furniture sits above the floor rather than on it. Handles recessed into the drawer front or left off entirely. And an uncluttered silhouette, with no applied moulding.

Building the room

What to avoid

The two mistakes are over-filling and over-matching. Scandinavian rooms rely on empty space, so a room crowded with pieces loses the effect no matter how correct each item is. And buying every piece in an identical finish flattens the room. Let one surface, usually the oak top, repeat, and allow the rest to vary.

Is Scandi the same as minimalist?

They overlap but Scandinavian is warmer. Minimalism strips a room back to almost nothing, while Scandinavian keeps timber, texture and soft layers so the space still feels lived in.

Free delivery applies on orders over $500, with a flat rate below that. Bed frames and dining tables arrive flat packed for assembly.
